Growing Communities with the Respect Game

Objective: The goal is to contribute meaningfully to your community, share these efforts, and gain recognition through respect points.

Setup:

  1. Players: Ideal for groups of any size, but works best with around 6 members per group.
  2. Meetings: Organize regular meetings (like weekly) for gameplay.

Gameplay:

  1. Contribution Sharing: Players take turns sharing their community contributions (max 4 minutes each).
  2. Discussion & Evaluation: After each share, the group discusses and then privately ranks each contribution.
  3. Points Awarding: Respect points are given based on the rankings, with more points for higher-ranked contributions.

Scoring:

  • Points follow a predefined system (e.g., Fibonacci sequence).
  • Track points over time to recognize ongoing community engagement.

Challenge:

  • Making Impactful Contributions: The challenge lies in continuously finding ways to positively impact your community.
  • Effective Communication: Players must effectively communicate their contributions to be valued by peers.
  • Consensus Building: Achieving consensus on contribution rankings can be challenging in diverse groups.

Winning:

  • The game is ongoing with no definitive end.
  • Success is measured by accumulating respect points and fostering a strong, supportive community.

End Game:
