The Evolution from ORDAO Office Hours

OrDAO Fractal emerged from the successful ORDAO Office Hours series hosted by Tadas, the creator and lead architect of ORDAO. After eight educational sessions that introduced community members to ORDAO's technical architecture and possibilities, the community recognized the need for a more participatory format that could accommodate growing contributor interest.

From Education to Collaboration

ORDAO Office Hours Legacy:

  • Eight foundational sessions introducing ORDAO concepts
  • Deep technical dives into OREC smart contracts
  • Live demonstrations of ORConsole functionality
  • Early community building among technical enthusiasts

Transition to OrDAO Fractal:

  • Shift from presentation-focused to participation-focused format
  • Introduction of Respect Game for contributor recognition
  • Expansion beyond technical education to active development
  • Creation of a sustainable community model

This evolution reflects the maturation of ORDAO from an experimental protocol to a production-ready governance system requiring ongoing development, testing, and community support.

Community Purpose and Mission

OrDAO Fractal exists to advance decentralized governance through collaborative development and implementation of ORDAO technology. The community operates with several core objectives that guide its activities and growth.

Primary Objectives

Technology Development: The community serves as the primary testing ground for new ORDAO features, providing a safe environment where experimental governance mechanisms can be evaluated before wider deployment. Contributors work together to identify bugs, suggest improvements, and validate new functionalities.

Knowledge Sharing: OrDAO Fractal creates a space where technical knowledge flows freely between experienced developers and newcomers. Through presentations, discussions, and hands-on demonstrations, community members share insights that accelerate ORDAO adoption.

Implementation Support: As various communities deploy ORDAO for their governance needs, OrDAO Fractal provides crucial support through documentation, troubleshooting, and customization guidance. This support network ensures successful implementations across diverse use cases.

Ecosystem Building: The community fosters connections between different projects and communities using ORDAO, creating network effects that strengthen the entire ecosystem. These relationships lead to cross-pollination of ideas and collaborative development efforts.

The OrDAO Fractal App

The OrDAO Fractal App, developed by Tadas in May 2025, represents a revolutionary advancement in making decentralized governance accessible to all community members. This comprehensive front-end interface transforms the technical complexity of blockchain governance into an intuitive user experience.

App Features and Functionality

Intuitive Proposal Management: The app provides a visual interface for creating, viewing, and managing proposals. Community members can easily navigate between active proposals, view voting status, and participate in governance without technical expertise. The design prioritizes clarity and usability while maintaining full access to ORDAO's powerful features.

Real-Time Governance Monitoring:

  • Voting Period Tracking: Clear displays show remaining time in voting and veto periods
  • Participation Metrics: View current vote tallies and participation levels
  • Proposal Status: Instantly see which proposals are active, passed, or executed
  • Historical Records: Access complete governance history for transparency

Integrated Respect System: The app seamlessly connects with the Respect token system, displaying each member's voting power and enabling reputation-based governance. Members can view their Respect balance, understand their influence, and track how Respect distribution evolves over time.

Technical Implementation

Multi-Chain Architecture: The OrDAO Fractal App supports deployment across multiple blockchain networks, with current implementations on:

  • OP Mainnet for established communities
  • Base network for cost-efficient operations
  • Test networks for development and experimentation

Smart Contract Integration:

  • Direct interaction with OREC contracts
  • Automated transaction building and submission
  • Error handling and user guidance
  • Gas optimization for efficient operations

User Experience Design:

  • Responsive design for desktop and mobile access
  • Clear visual hierarchies for information
  • Intuitive navigation between features
  • Accessible to non-technical users

Proposal Types and Templates

The app includes pre-configured proposal templates for common governance actions:

Respect Distribution:

  • Post-Respect Game distribution proposals
  • Individual Respect minting for special contributions
  • Respect burning for accountability (rarely used)

Governance Operations:

  • Period adjustment proposals (voting/veto timeframes)
  • Parameter updates for governance rules
  • Custom contract interactions

Community Actions:

  • Event scheduling and coordination
  • Resource allocation decisions
  • Cross-community collaborations

Playing the Respect Game at OrDAO Fractal

The Respect Game forms the foundation of OrDAO Fractal's community dynamics, creating a merit-based system where contributions are recognized through peer evaluation. This democratic process ensures that influence in the community stems from demonstrated value rather than financial capital.

How the Respect Game Works

Meeting Structure: OrDAO Fractal events begin with participants randomly divided into breakout groups of 3-6 people. This small group format ensures everyone has adequate time to share while maintaining intimate discussions where nuanced evaluation is possible.

Contribution Sharing: Each participant receives up to 4 minutes to answer: "What have I contributed to ORDAO development?" Contributions can include:

  • Code development and bug fixes
  • Documentation and educational content
  • Community support and onboarding
  • Strategic planning and coordination
  • Testing and quality assurance

Consensus Building: After all presentations, groups work together to reach consensus on rankings. This collaborative process encourages thoughtful evaluation and mutual understanding rather than competitive dynamics.

Respect Distribution: Based on consensus rankings, participants receive OrDAO Respect tokens:

  • Level 6: 55 Respect (highest contribution)
  • Level 5: 34 Respect
  • Level 4: 21 Respect
  • Level 3: 13 Respect
  • Level 2: 8 Respect
  • Level 1: 5 Respect (participation acknowledgment)

Integration with Governance

The Respect earned through these games directly translates to voting power in OrDAO Fractal governance. This creates a direct link between contribution and influence, ensuring those who actively build and support the community have proportional say in its direction.

Message to Tadas

As discussed, I’ve published the first ORDAO Fractal video on the Eden Creators youtube channel. I’ve also created a new article at Optimystics.io/ordao-fractal and started to curate the videos there. I also created thumbnails and youtube descriptions for the three episodes so far. I plan to add more to the article over time to provide an introduction and document the progress of ORDAO Fractal.

You can leave any comments here on the show notes / youtube description for first episode. You can edit or leave comments on the article and other episodes here. I plan to publish the other 2 episodes in the next week, though I would be happy to hear your feedback and make any changes that you’d like.
